Independent Directions to this Site: From Highway 417 (The Queensway) take exit 138 (Eagleson Road). If driving east, a 0.5 km offramp dumps you right or SSE onto Eagleson. If travelling west, the 0.6 km offramp brings you to Eagleson, where you will turn left or SSE onto it and in 0.6 km join the eastbound offramp traffic. Both groups will now follow Eagleson Road SSE 2.0 km from here past Robertson Road to the Old Quarry Trail parking area. Turn left into the parking area.
Stony Swamp Loop Route Directions: From the parking lot for the Timm Drive Trails, turn right or northeast onto Timm Drive and in 0.1 km turn right or SSE onto Haanel Drive. Proceed 0.7 km to Robertson Road or Ottawa-Carleton Regional Road # 36 and turn right or southwest onto it. Drive 1.5 km to Eagleson Road and turn left or SSE onto it. Go 0.3 km SSE on Eagleson to the parking lot, on the left, for the Old Quarry Trail.
Site Description and Birding Information: The trail is a 2.7 km loop, with a shortcut via a footbridge toward the north end of the loop. There is a self-guided interpretive trail here telling the story of the surrounding landscape.
From the far northeastern end of this loop it is possible to do an additional 2.3 km loop (Trail 23) and by it connect to Trail 24, the northern extension of Scissons Road, which is now part of the greenbelt trail system, and thus southward or northward to other trails. If you go NNW on this woodroad you quickly reach Robertson Road, and if you go SSE you will reach Trail 25, a.k.a. the Richmond Road Trail.

Turn right or southwest along Fallowfield and go 2.5 km to Shea Road. Turn left or southeast onto Shea, at the beginning of our next location on this loop, the Shea & Akins Roads.
