NeilyWorld  Birding Ottawa - Southeast

         The South Gower - Mountain Loop has a good variety of habitat and, since it is both located on the southern edge of the Ottawa checklist circle and far enough from the city to be under-birded, provides opportunity for exploration and discovery. Central to this loop is the Mountain Provincial Wildlife Area, which protects much of the Winchester Bog. Interesting farmland, edge habitat and partial access to the area surrounding this gem can be had from several of the sites. For something a bit different try the South Gower Boundary Road (Sod Farms) and/or the Winchester Sewage Lagoons, both included in this loop.
