Map of Anderson Road Trails area
Site Description and Birding Information: This set of trails, which connects with those of Dolman Ridge Road, forms an excellent route for exploring this portion of the Greenbelt. Good variety of habitat provides good birding, especially during spring migration. Skiers keep the trails open all winter and good birds can be found here then too.
In spring, the trail # 50 can be good for migrating warblers. Both Mourning and Golden-winged Warblers have been seen here in late May. Barred Owl is sometimes found roosting along the trails. Check for Northern Shrike in winter. Black-backed Woodpecker is another possible, it has been seen on trail 51. A Northern Hawk Owl wintered on trail # 52 from Dec. 28, 1991 to Feb. 29, 1992 and a Great Gray Owl was found at the western end of the trails, along the power line corridor Feb. 22, 1992.
