Poem of the Month - June 2004
Return to Poems of the Month List

So
from Gathering Wild

In a life of Oscar Wilde
I read exactly
how the lean hound leapt,
precisely how it fastened on his throat
until the white stag dropped.

It made rubies
of the flying specks of red,
that volume did.

"So that's the way life turns
into a book;" I thought
and shook.
