Site Description and Birding Information: Huron Lookout is a great spot to watch for raptors flying along the escarpment, and incidentally a great view of the Ottawa River and Aylmer. It is also one of the best spots to hear and see Indigo Bunting in spring and summer.
Some interesting species seen here include Hoary Redpoll (Jan. 23, 1994), Red-headed Woodpecker (Jul. 3, 1993), Rufous-sided Towhee (May 27, 1990) and Bay-breasted Warbler (July 1989).
In winter, this section of the parkway is closed to vehicles and is opened to skiing only. Hikers may still use the trails. The exact dates are weather dependent, but usually from mid-November to early April.
